Accommodations

The Hayloft

Tastefully converted genuine old stone hayloft dating back to the 18th century idyllically situated amidst beautiful countryside in this peaceful hamlet midway between MATLOCK and BAKEWELL.

The Hayloft is now a completely self-contained cosy apartment with access via original old stone granary steps, which rise from the quaint south-facing courtyard full of various shrubs, cottage garden plants and climbing roses.

Panoramic views from The Hayloft windows take in the gardens, private adjoining land and the wooded and heather clad hillsides towards Stanton Moor, and in another direction, the old steam trains of Peak Rail and the rolling farmland towards Darley Hillside and Beeley Moor.

A wealth of natural stonework, original king post truss and old pine timber framing give an olde worlde atmosphere to the high class accommodation which has been tastefully restored, decorated and equipped to a luxurious standard with old pine furniture throughout, but also providing all modern facilities.

An open-plan sitting area comprises a comfy cream sofa and easy chair, wide-screen Freesat TV and DVD player together with radio/CD player. A dining area and farmhouse style pine kitchen with oven and hob, microwave and full size fridge-freezer all make for easy, comfortable living.

There is a spacious, character double bedroom with an original antique Victorian brass & iron bed including a new comfortable double 10” thick mattress. A vanity unit with gold taps is set in an alcove alongside a fitted wardrobe, and there is a dressing area with chest of drawers and a window overlooking the courtyard with wonderful views. An en-suite shower and toilet complete the accommodation.

General information on garden and private meadows areas

There are plenty of sitting out areas in the garden. Bumble Bee Barn have their own table and chairs with parasol on their private patio overlooking the garden while The Hayloft guests have the use of a new rattan table and chair set with parasol in the courtyard.

All guests can use the table and chairs down by the ponds immediately overlooking the meadow and free-range chicken area.

A barbecue is available for all guests wishing to have a barbecue in the summer time.

THE GARDENS have been lovingly created and tended for many years to encourage wildlife and insects including many butterflies and I do hope you will enjoy them and find you too can be as one with nature in this magical place.

FREE-RANGE EGGS are usually for sale during the laying season (January to August).

There is a productive vegetable and fruit garden and surplus produce is sometimes for sale in season.

There is safe parking within the gardens on the gravelled drive.

Tourist Information is available in both these properties and walking books can be borrowed on request.

All guests will be sent my own tried and tested recommendations of local pubs and restaurants.

Finally, I wish all who come and stay in this little piece of heaven a wonderful holiday or short break.
