Tastefully converted genuine old stone Hayloft dating back to the 18th century idyllically situated amidst beautiful countryside in a peaceful hamlet midway between MATLOCK and BAKEWELL. The Hayloft is a little off the beaten track but not isolated. Nestling just below Stanton Moor and the Druid’s Nine Ladies Stone Circle and with 3½ acres of paddock and lovely rambling gardens, it is the ideal location for touring the Dales and Peaks of Derbyshire.
The Hayloft is completely self-contained with access via original old stone granary steps, which rise from the quaint south-facing
courtyard full of various cottage garden and climbing plants. Panoramic views from The Hayloft windows take in the gardens and
paddock and the wooded and heather clad hillsides towards Stanton and Beeley Moors, and in another direction, the old steam trains
of Peak Rail and the rolling farmland towards Darley Hillside. A wealth of natural stonework, original king post truss and old pine timber
framing give an olde worlde atmosphere to the high class accommodation which has been tastefully restored, decorated and
equipped to a luxurious standard with old pine furniture throughout, but also providing all modern facilities. An open-plan sitting area
with comfy cream sofa and easy chair, 32ins flat screen TV with Freesat, DVD player and radio/CD player, dining area and farmhouse style pine kitchen with oven and
hob, microwave and full size fridge-freezer all make for easy, comfortable living.
Free WiFi access is available.
There is a spacious, character double bedroom with an original antique Victorian brass & iron bed including a new comfortable double 10inch thick mattress. A vanity unit with gold taps is set in an alcove alongside a fitted wardrobe, and there is a dressing area with chest of drawers and a window overlooking the courtyard with wonderful views. An en-suite shower and toilet complete the accommodation.
The Hayloft which is strictly NO SMOKING, is centrally heated when required and all bed linen, towels and tea towels are provided free of charge. Being owner maintained throughout the year, The Hayloft is kept spotlessly clean and you will also find little extras like washing-up liquid and a loo roll!
Car parking is available within the gardens and we are situated ½ mile from 2 pubs and public transport at Darley Bridge. There are also several local village inns in nearby villages where you can enjoy a lovely evening meal.
Various chairs and tables are provided for sitting out in the courtyard and down on the lawn where you can admire the wonderful views and watch the free-range chickens in the field (lovely eggs with that long-forgotten flavour are available!)
Wildlife abounds in the area and there are wild deer, foxes and badgers. Numerous birds, including the Greater Spotted Woodpecker and Nuthatch visit the gardens to feed alongside all the Tit family.
Keen gardeners will be delighted by the ponds and vast array of plants in the rambling gardens. If you fancy a barbecue there is one available on request for your personal use.
